EQUAL SCITECH

PROMOTING GENDER EQUALITY IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Funded by the European Union.

About Equal SciTech

The Project

The EQUAL SciTech project aims to promote gender equality in science and technology, with the objective of increasing the social participation of girls and young women in STEM fields. STEM encompasses many aspects of our lives and serves as a catalyst for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030) by providing solutions to emerging challenges in our daily lives. The underrepresentation of girls in STEM fields is not due to cognitive limitations but rather to socialization and learning processes in their environment that shape their identity, beliefs, actions, and choices. Therefore, the EQUAL SciTech project has the potential to significantly expand female learning opportunities in STEM, providing access to a wide range of professional opportunities. Furthermore, the initiative may contribute to the development of gender-neutral teaching, promote a pleasant learning environment, prevent and combat school dropout and absenteeism, and prioritize social inclusion.

Objectives

  • Highlight the important role of women in science and technology
  • Ensure a transformative environment in the school context with regard to the roles of women andmen in work and society; and and society
  • To sensitize teachers/educators to gender issues, reinforcing their educational skills in orderto work with students.
